The Joy and Aledo Fire Protection Districts
are asking our voters to approve an increase
in the Ambulance Service Levy. Illinois State
Statutes allow districts to levy up to .003 for
Fire (Fire Department expenses only)
and 003 for special Ambulance funds (EMS
expenses only). With the voters' support,
a YES vote, the Ambulance levy can be raised
to a levy of.004. The chart below will show
what this will cost taxpayers for 2 different
property values. The Fire Protection Districts
have always worked to control costs but are
now faced with a difficult decision to ask our
voters to raise taxes. The safety and care of
a Paramedic Service is a life-saving service
we cannot be without. We cannot set a price
on saving a life, by supporting this levy increase, you will be saving lives
The max levy for ambulance service is .003%
The max levy by voter approved referendum .004%

you would pay $33 more a year for a home with an estimated valuation of $100,000
You would pay $66 dollars for a home with an estimated market value of $200,000
The original Ambulance District for nearly 40
years consisted of Aledo, Joy, Seaton, Greene Fire
Districts, and the City of Keithsburg joined us in
December 2016. Our contract ended on
12/31/2023 with Genesis Ambulance Service. The
districts advertised for Ambulance service providers. After receiving no proposals and no option to
extend service with Genesis. The District Commit-
tee reached out to all local providers to discuss
options for coverage Elite EMS provided a proposal to provide a Paramedic Ambulance crew to
the fire districts 24/7/365 days a year with a 5-
year contract. While the negotiations were taking
place with Elite the Greene Fire District reached an
agreement with another service. The Ambulance
Committee is still looking for ways to increase revenue, support local volunteers, and collaborate
with Elite EMS to improve the services for our
communities. A new committee will be formed in
2024 to evaluate long-term EMS solutions for Mercer County
A YES VOTE IS A VOTE FOR LIFE SAFETY
